Yes, Living With Diabetes Can Feel Lonely and Limiting
It’s hard to be the only person in the room worrying about what others might think when it’s time to take your medication or do your testing.
The stigma of “what did you do to get this?”
The constant planning, prepping, counting and worrying about glucose levels…
The stress of trying to manage your normal lifestyle on top of all these extra precautions…
It is constant, unwavering, and it can outright suck…
But, it doesn’t have to… 🙂

“Don’t Do This! Don’t Eat That! Stay Away from Everything!”
Traditional diabetes management can make everything feel like it’s off limits.
“Don’t do that, yo! Don’t eat that, dude! Stay away from (insert everything here.)”
You may feel like you aren’t able to freely explore life like everyone else.
But, what if we told you that you can experience and accomplish whatever you want, regardless of your unique journey?

Our Passion Behind This Project
The Sweet-Ass Journal is a joint creation by Caitlin Grenier and Heath Armstrong that was sparked during a lunch meeting in 2018 in which Caitlin expressed her life mission to help diabetics optimize their lifestyles, mindset, and overall health. Since Heath had already created a successful journaling system for helping others create extensive happiness habits, the light bulb didn’t just turn on–it exploded.
We immediately noticed a huge chunk of practices that could be beneficial to diabetics, as most of them postiviely impact stress and happiness levels, which can in return have an astonishing effect on keeping blood glucose levels low and steady. With these habits, experiences, tools, practices, and the PLAD community, you don’t have to live a reserved, limited life. Come party with us instead!
More About the Authors
Caitlin Grenier was unexpectedly diagnosed with late-onset type 1 diabetes in 2013. Instead of folding into depression and self-pity, she has dedicated her life to helping diabetics optimize their mental and physical happiness, health, and longevity—all while having a blast.
She founded Party Like A Diabetic (PLAD) to build a welcoming community for others living with diabetes who wanted to make the most of life. In addition, she partners with restaurants, breweries, bars, event centers and more to provide carb counts so that you and other diabetics can feel more empowered while dining and drinking out.
Caitlin is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach who specializes in working with people who have diabetes and medical professionals to reach their optimal health and well-being. She is also an adjunct instructor at Meharry Medical College where she teaches foundational health coaching skills and communication to medical students.
Heath Armstrong is a creative writer and the co-founder of Rage Create. He is the author of The Sweet-Ass Journal to Develop Your Happiness Muscle in 100 Days and Sweet-Ass Affirmations: Motivation for Your Creative Maniac Mind.
In under 4 years, he interviewed 100+ creative entrepreneurs around the world to identify the practices and habits that made them successful. He then applied them to his own life, quit his job, sold all of his belongings, and created an e-commerce business that has generated more than $2 million in sales to date.
He has dedicated his life to helping others, like you, unleash their passions and create the optimal mindset and lifestyles that they love.
Whether you have type 1, type 2, LADA, MODY, or prediabetes, we are positive that the information and processes in this journal, along with the amazing PLAD community, will help you live your best life. This is the last diabetes care journal you’ll ever need. So, come party!
